The PTE Academic assesses the real-life English skills you will need at your university and living abroad. Not only does PTE assess speaking, listening, reading and writing, but also reflects real-life settings, as well as testing academic skills.

Academic is a computer-based academic English language test aimed at non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad. It tests Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. There is one multi-level test.

  1. Academic assesses listening, reading, speaking and writing, all via computer in a single 3 hour test session.

  2. To complete a Academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test centre. You will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and respond to questions.

  3. During the three-hour test session there will be three main parts to the test: speaking and writing (together), listening and reading. There are twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing and interpreting information.

  4. Academic assesses real-life, academic content, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will be exposed to the type of accents you will encounter in everyday life.

  5. PTE has 20 modules

  6. The dates are easily available and results come very quickly too

  7. It is accepted in UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and in some Universities in US

Test format - Academic is a computer-based test that measures your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills in academic English.
